Testimonials

1. The first Rise event last Wednesday night was a truly powerful experience. Despite being a room full of strangers, there was an immediate sense of connection as we all shared the common bond of how cancer has touched our lives in one way or another. The collective energy and vulnerability in the room made it feel like more than just an event—it was a gathering of individuals coming together to support one another and raise awareness for an important cause

.2. A key takeaway from the session was the realization that through our common bond, we allowed for honest conversations around the urgent need to take better care of our health, including our brain and mental well-being. It highlighted the importance of proactive steps in improving overall health, and I got the sense that many left feeling empowered to prioritize their mental and physical wellness moving forward.

The first “Rise” event last week was incredibly authentic and meaningful. Despite the heavy topic of cancer, the atmosphere was filled with positivity, motivation and support. The participants’ stories brought a deep sense of connection, and the speakers offered valuable insights. It was an enriching experience where awareness, openness and understanding were encouraged, creating a space that felt both safe and uplifting.

One of my key takeaways was that men and women facing cancer often have similar needs: the desire to overcome the cancer, to cope both physically and mentally with this life-changing challenge, and to readapt to a new way of living. However, men tend to seek different methods to meet these needs. They often prefer practical, advice-driven approaches to help them navigate their journey. This highlights for me the importance of tailoring support to meet these preferences while addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of their experiences.

The Rise event was a super informative, interesting and moving evening, hearing about everyone’s shared experiences and learning about some interesting approaches to health, wellbeing and community (not to mention the revelation that prostrate cancer can be tested for via simple blood test nowadays!).

The main takeaway from the evening was the importance of connection, both in helping people dealing with cancer, but also on a broader basis for wellbeing and positive mental health. We humans are social animals, after all!

We had an amazing event last night with Kim incredible speakers talking about a wide range of useful topics. I listened to Tony Sului talking about centering and being calm but determined. And i listened to Greg Boucher talking about (amongst other things) hydration diet and muscle mass. I went 'yup' to all of that stuff. Then ate my normal breakfast and drank hardly any water, which wouldn't pass Greg's diet and left the house without doing my meditation as promised to Tony.

15 minutes ago i realised i had left the house without doing the 4 pillars of wellness. Sleep, move, relax and eat.... properly. And what struck me like a lightning bolt is that this stuff isnt optional any more. It is the formula to living a few more years and not sliding down a slippery slope to a lingering death in a couple of years. It's a choice. With fairly serious consequences. Called my life. No half way house. ALL or nothing. So instead of making up my own parhetic version I'm meeting Tony and Greg tomorrow to get experts to build me a life changing, life extending plan. Because i don't want to die.
